Description

Jesus, teaching His disciples to pray, stressed:
And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. (Mark 11:25)
"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. (Luke 6:37)
So, watch yourselves. "If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying, 'I repent,' you must forgive them." The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!" (Luke 17:3 – 5)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and His word is not in us.
(1 John 1:9 -10)
We have all being there! Many are still there. People have offended us, and we have also offended others. Let us go back to that place… pause… think long… think hard. Some of us do not have to go far. For many, the journey is long.
Who offended you: a parent, a trusted family member, friend, pastor/priest, an authority figure or even a stranger?
What did they do: betray, rape, steal, malign, abandon, murder, lie or cheat? What could it be? Jesus says, forgive! The pain may be deep; the scars may remain, the wound may be sore, the circumstance may be unfair but forgive you must.
Un-forgiveness is a self-created prison. Who wants to be in one? Visiting that place may bring back pain (you may have tucked it in so far away, you don't want it revisited). You may break down in tears. Negative emotions may flood back, but you must forgive.
Many of us are in such prisons, and our inner selves are craving freedom. Let the real you come out. Let it go!
