Guard Your Heart
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
(Proverbs 4:23)
My friend, I thought I would let you know that the Master and I scheduled a visit to you this morning. I was sure that having been together for so long, pondering over God's will for us, everything would be in place. I assured the Master that you are one of the finest breeds on this side of the divide. He kind of gently cautioned that I should not raise my expectations too high. But I was hot in your defence; you have been a faithful follower of the way for a while now. I reminded Him of all your noble deeds and your love for the brethren. He agreed with almost everything I had to say in your favour. He only hinted that there was yet an aspect that you needed to work on. He affirmed that you are one of His arrows; He was just concerned about a little angle that may trip the whole thing.
His concern was the workings of your mind. I decided, therefore, to let you know that an inspection of your inner chambers will be carried out when we come. As a friend, I thought I would give you secrets that will help you to pass the test.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8-9)
You see, if you can pass the heart test, you would be outstanding. Please be advised that you need always to set a door at your heart. Make sure the deliberations in there are what would bring about the peace that only the Master can give. I know the enemy would always want to sway you otherwise. Trust me, if you can make sure that all you think about remain true, noble, make sure your thoughts bring honour and keep them right and not allow anything less than excellent have room in your mind and do all that I have been telling you are what you do. If you can stay with this, you will find peace on all sides. Everything will work together for you. The Master will give you more room in the land.
You will be so happy and joyful your neighbours will envy you. Your life will be so rich and fruitful if you pay attention and watch the proceeds of your mind.
Beloved, did you get the note the Spirit sent to you this morning? What do you think? How are you doing? Is everything all right as far as thought patterns are concerned? Should we x-ray your mind, what would we find? How clean are your thoughts, will they pass the Philippians 4:8-9 test?
Just in case we fall short, what should we do? Run to the great Physician. He knows what to do.
He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.
