“My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you. All who are mine belong to you, and you have given them to me, so they bring me glory. Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are. John 17:9-11
Why does the last words of a dying man command our attention? Is it that we are aware of their transition and their connection with the hereafter, or the fact that death calls for sobriety and stocktaking? Whatever the reason, we know that the last words/wishes of a man on earth is respected.
Jesus, just before He left the earth prayed, that we, his children may be protected, be united, work together, just as He and the Father. It is for this reason that we, His disciples must fight anything that divides us. Any voice that seeks to sow discord should be regarded as an enemy of the will of Christ.
My dear friend look out for that voice/ vessel of dissension and point them back to the prayer and will of Jesus.
