Julia lost her mom very suddenly, six days after Mother’s Day, when she was 8 years old. It wasn't until her late 20s/early 30s that she actually began processing this immense loss, and coming to understand it as a trauma.
Julia is now a Grief Support Specialist and Certified Grief Educator. She launched her Instagram community, Girl Meets Grief, over Mother's Day weekend in 2021.

Julia's Take-Aways: I want to share these quotes from Anne Lamott that have helped me: Grief is "a lifelong nightmare of homesickness". It's hard to feel like you want to go home, but that person is no longer there. It also is hard to acknowledge that we will never be the same again, but as Anne says, "you learn to dance with the limp."
