How we react to a particular song not only depends on the musical attributes of that song but on various situational and personal factors. Well renowned Sri Lankan Music Artist & Entrepreneur Bathiya Jayakody (know as BNS) checked in to the cafe to share his insights & experience on How Music is a vital component & how it can be a regulator of our emotions.
Music has a strong connection to feelings of pleasure. Engaging with music can trigger the same biological and psychological responses associated with other highly fundamental rewards, such as food, sex, and money. Our internal rhythms speed up or slow down to become one with the music. The movement is more likely to occur when one is listening to a highly enjoyable song. in the same way that we grasp other people’s emotions, we also feel the emotions from music, because they’re contagious Sad music tends to make people sad; happy music cheers them. That is, listeners tend to adopt bodily postures and attitudes like those expressed in the music.
Bathiya did mention sound & music play a vital role. They always make sure the environment & context is set when composing a song.
