Todays' Gospel narrative vividly illustrates the sovereign power of God. We are allowed into the council chambers of Jerusalem's religious, ruling class. They think they are scheming to "get rid" of Jesus, who is a threat to their power. What they don't realize is that they are just players on the stage of God's redemptive story. God will take the gathering of those who thought to silence Jesus and use it to bring about the events that will secure the salvation of all who believe.
