John saw a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, choosing to now be coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of the wide-open place. It is radiant with no impurities.
The river is a metaphor for the Holy Spirit who is absorbed and amplified through His people, flowing out from within our New Creation, the Sanctuary of God. Flowing from the throne speaks of the Unity of the Godhead.
Faith is how the living water is permitted to flow in and through a person. But when fear supplants their faith, they have forsaken God, the fountain of living waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water.Download Transcript
