Alpha & Omega are nouns that declare what He is. He is eternal, outside of time, and all of time is held in His sovereign hands. Beginning & End are nouns that indicate nothing occurs that He did not initiate, nothing closes that He does not close, and the journey is a result of His sovereign hand. The First & Last are adjectives that describe Him as the one who brings to fruition everything He has ever said or promised.
There is this requirement, in the now, to be washing our robes. Blessed if we do. It is an ongoing requirement, rendered in the present active participle. Bondservants have white robes. They washed them white in the blood of the lamb but our journey in this world requires ongoing washing to have the right to the tree of life and the right to enter the holy city though the gates.
