Description

Jesus commands us to come to Him for His burden is light. God desires our willingness to let Him be our I AM and in turn He promises rest. To the extent that we do not believe that Jesus is our I AM (in whatever areas of our life), we will not know, rest but spiritual death.

Rest speaks of the absence of striving – trusting that if ONLY GOD IS GOOD, then only He can do the good works of the Father in-and-through our lives; it is all up to Him. Rest speaks of having the core needs of our soul satisfied (safety, security, stability, being seen or known) so we do not have to strive for these things.

In contrast, the labor of legalism (trying to do “for” God), is never satisfied. But the dead and dying (those who have embraced the death of our own self-effort) will abide in His rest.
