On Aug 3, 2020 the Land Transportation Office announced stringent regulations in getting driver's license in the Philippines. A 15-hour TDC (theoretical driving course) is now required just to get a student permit, and an 8-hour PDC (practical driving course) to get a new drivers license or additional restriction code. LTO plans to introduce merits/demerits in the new license system to discourage traffic violations.
