Ingrid Nin and André Fernández are huge supporters of Latinxs working in the media and entertainment industry.
Latinxs have the highest movie-going rate among ethnic groups in the U.S. However, according to a 2019 study by the National Association of Independent Latino Producers, Latinxs represented only 4.5% of speaking characters across the top 1,200 films from 2007 to 2018. We need to change that.
If there was ever a time to highlight the achievements of Latinxs working in Hollywood, this is it. With this podcast, we aim to increase the visibility of trailblazing storytellers and creatives – from directors, cinematographers and actors, to executives, producers, and assistants – who all happen to be Latinx.
On-screen representation of Latinxs is worth its weight in gold, and companies who don’t understand that notion are bound to leave money on the table. There are a plethora of stories by us and for us to tell. We have to create opportunities to tell these stories ourselves because no one is doing it for us.
Join us every week for a conversation on the experiences, career trajectories, opportunities, nuances, and diversity of Latinx storytelling.
We are excited to share our thoughts on these topics because we believe that the next decade of entertainment will be defined by diversity and inclusion.
