Description

Tabletop role-playing has been around for a long time, with Dungeons and Dragons being the name most synonymously associated with it. D&D has been around since the 70s and has gotten increasingly popular over the decades (and even more so during the pandemic), which counts tens of millions of active players. So when we heard that Daniel Kwan wrote a Chinese themed D&D adventure in Candlekeep Mysteries, an adventure anthology, we had to reach out to him and get the lowdown on it!

Daniel (@aznsrepresent), a long time D&D player, gives us a top down overview of what D&D is, how he got started, how playing it has changed his life, and how he passes on that knowledge to the newer generation of D&D players. He addresses the racism within D&D and how it still persists even today, which is one of the main reasons why he decided to write this adventure. We encourage everyone out there who has never tried the game or are interested to take a listen to this episode. We hope that it allows you to take that first step into tabletop gaming.

Daniel also has his own long running podcast called Asians Represent! which delves further into Asian representation within tabletop gaming. They are also active on Twitch (@AznsRep) and Twitter (@aznsrepresent). Check them out! If you'd like to purchase the Candlekeep Mysteries book, It's currently available on Amazon or you can try your local game store.
