More about O'Jay
Growing up, I always had a natural love for books and would read everything I could get my hands on. Reading for me was a gateway into the arts and helped spark my creative mind. At the age of five, I started dancing (mostly ballet) but was trained in different genres of dance. Dancing led me to eventually acting and then writing. I started out mostly writing poetry and short stories. Poems were my favorite to write and I could create a poem at the drop of a dime. I loved giving away framed custom poems, and I’m sure my mother and grandmother have tons of them stored away. I even wrote poetry and wedding vows for my mother’s coworkers. As much as I loved all aspects of the arts, writing was my gift until one day I lost it. What was once second nature for me suddenly disappeared and then LIFE happened! I was raising my daughters, working, and going to school, so like many other women – some of my dreams took a back burner and were replaced by real life.
