Continuing our series of Love and Monsters (in honor of both After Midnight and Sadistic Intentions being released on Valentine's Day) is The Shape of Water! Even though this movie is only a few years old, it is among our all time favorite movies here at Video Monsters. And when we first discussed the idea of doing a Love and Monsters series, we both instantly knew that The Shape of Water was definitely going to be covered. From the attention to detail in production design, to the acting, to the social commentary, to the blending of cinematic styles and genres, to the sheer beauty of this film...we absolutely adore The Shape of Water in just about every facet that a movie can be appreciated!! So, it should be no surprise that the majority of this episode is enthusiastically singing its praises! If you are wondering whey the ENTIRE episode isn't singing the praises of The Shape of Water, it is because we start things out by singing the praises of the Chattanooga Film Festival and discussing the first wave of announcements that were released this week. There is no shortage of love for CFF here at Video Monsters, and with the films, events, and venue (this year, CFF will be at Songbirds on the south side of Chattanooga) that were announced (include a literal once in a lifetime opportunity of seeing a film that will only be screened once....ever), we are already super stoked and cannot wait to see what else is in store for CFF 2020!!!!
