Michael Coon is an Associate Professor of Economics in the Sykes College of Business at the University of Tampa, where he teaches Principles of Microeconomics, Economics of Immigration, International Economics & Finance, and Public Economics. Prior to joining the UT faculty, he was an Assistant Professor at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. There he taught a wide range of courses related to microeconomic theory, quantitative analysis, and international economics.
His primary research interests are in empirical microeconomics, particularly in the areas of the economics of migration and migration policy, and income remittances.
He received his graduate degrees, M.A. and Ph.D., from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and his B.A. from American University in Washington, DC.
