This episode might be the most vulnerable one yet shared by Jamie & Lindsay. Breaking into the Black Sheep archetype and what it has entailed for them personally in their own families of origin, they get really honest about who they became growing up because of this archetype playing out in their beings and family dynamics. Both J&L wouldn't change a thing or want to be any other way, but both also share deeply about the struggle that it is to be the one to break the cycle of dysfunctional, harmful patterns in the family unit.
The Black Sheep often seems to wear the identities of 'Scapegoat' and 'Healer' in the family, and is the one that so often bears the brunt of unresolved conflicts, trauma, maladaptive patterns and more. This is the burden of being the Black Sheep but there is also big blessing in it; Who you become through it and how Black Sheep folks might just be the ones healing and changing the world for the better.
