Mindset Explosion - Season 4, Episode 4
Serena is a BBC-trained radio journalist. She started out at BBC Radio Essex and moved on to the BBC World Service. She then relocated to Berlin with her new husband where they stayed for 20 years. Here they ran a successful tourism business and Serena also worked for DW TV - the German TV and radio equivalent of the BBC World Service. She was active on and off air on news, documentaries and promotions.
She and her husband also had two boys and feels it is one of their life achievements to have raised them to be bilingual!
When the family relocated back to the UK in 2011, Serena reinvented herself as a voiceover artist. She purchased the gear, trained herself to audio edit and got to work. Sadly, she found it deadly boring! Reading aloud to yourself all day long is not much fun, as it turns out.
In 2018 she realised her skills – journalism, business acumen, live broadcasting work and audio editing - were ideal to get into the burgeoning UK podcast market. She launched Made4U Podcasts (https://www.made4u-podcasts.co.uk) and now caters for companies and organisations launching and producing their podcasts to help them reach a profitable stream of new clients.
Serena also operates two of her own podcasts. “Business Revival – in Gloucestershire” in which she interviews businesspeople in the county about how they are coping during the pandemic. And the recently launched “Podcast Launch Pad” about how to launch a business podcast.
She also operates a Facebook Group to help women business owners with their own podcasting ambitions. It’s called “Podcasting Blueprint for Women Business Owners”.
