Constitution of Humanity
1. Body - Material 2. Soul - intellect, emotions, etc. We are stewards of both.
Genesis 2:7 - Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. (Ezekiel 37:1-14)
1. God formed from dust of the ground - building material - physical action with physical substance
2. Breath of Life - supernateral part - wind or spirit - John 3:7-8 born of the spirit
3. Man became a living being -
Which is more import? - Exodus 3:14 - God replied to Moses, “I am who i am. Say this to the people of Israel: I am has sent me to you. Matthew 10:28 - Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Joni Eareckson Tada is an example of a soul is shining and alive and her physical body is broken.
Which should we care for?
1. Both body and soul - feed it right - God doesn't make mistakes
2. Exercise - acts of faith - pray, exercise our faith meditations on God & His will and His Word
3. Consult Dr. - examine ourselves - go see pastor - for spiritual doctoring
Which did Jesus die for? 1 Corinthians 15:35-46 - Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. (v. 43)
Where is our focus? Body or soul
We see in scripture a level of importance on both physical and spiritual!
