Psalm 96 - Praise Him for His Greatness
Thinking about God is hard work. We will have to think hard!
v. 4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.
v. 8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering and come into His courts.
v. 9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness, tremble before Him, all the earth!
God is Infinite
Infinite in Power - Omnipotent - No limit to His power
Infinite in Space - Omnipresent - God is everywhere
Infinite in Knowledge - Omniscient - God knows everything
Infinite in Time - God is eternal - He has no time limits like we do.
Use your imagination - the vast nothingness that existed before God created everything!
Infinite in Perfections/Attribules/Characteristics - Because He is infinite, lhe is complete and undivided.
When our wrath/anger goes up, love and compassion go down.
When our compassion rises, justice and wisdom fade.
When God's wrath/anger shows, so does love and compassion.
When God's compassion rises, so does justice and wisdom.
God's characterists are perfect - God is Love, God is Patient, God is Just, - God is Righteous, God is Merciful.
God is Self -Existent - God has no need. He does not need us...sounds harsh...or mean, doesn't it. But this is a good thing - He can desire a relationship with no strings attached, no coercion, no bribe. He does what is best for us. John 5:26 - For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself.
God actions are completely selfless - God has amazing, unconditional Love for us.
God is Creative - Everything fits together
God is Love - Laid down yourself for others (JESUS)
God is True - God is not in competition as the world is.. He humbled himself. (be overwhelmed by who God is)
The Lord is Great and greatly to be praised!!
