Description

Too much of a Good Thing / Titus 2:11-15

For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people,12 instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. 14 He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people for His own possession, eager to do good works.

15 Say these things, and encourage and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

Two cliffs

Forgotten Grace – Legalism and human effort – I should have done that better

Grace taken for granted – license & lack of responsibility

Religion Says – I Obey therefore I am accepted

Christianity says – I am accepted therefore I obey – While I was yet a sinner, Christ died for me.  Grace is motivation for us to be Godly and obey. Grace is motivation for us to stay in the middle.  Not go over the cliff on either side.

Grace Awakens Gratitude – Salvation to all men

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

What are you thankful for?

Grace Establishes a Relationship

God is my Father – we need to be His people. Father has authority – we want to please Him.  He wants to have a relationship with us too.  No other God’s before me

Grace Grants a Helper

The Holy Spirit

Grace produces a return

Repentance – turn towards God, deny self – repent - Romans 6:1 - What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may multiply?
