Description

In February 2020, Jolan Wong secured a spot in the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo by winning gold and being named “Best Libero” at the World ParaVolley’s final Paralympic qualification tournament in Halifax.

Wearing number eight, along with a long list of titles, including 2020 athlete ambassador, ParaSport® Ontario’s 2021 Female Athlete of the Year Award, mentor, cancer survivor, wife and mom, our very own Laurentian Valley resident Jolan Wong is competing in Tokyo’s 2020 Paralympic Games and she’s got the entire Ottawa Valley community cheering her on!

Jolan shares that at the young age of 12, she was diagnosed with a type of bone cancer similar to the type Terry Fox was diagnosed with, that resulted in her leg being amputated when she was 13 and how she didn’t let this obstacle stand in her way of partaking in every day activities or sports. And she has proven that in itself as she embarks in the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo!
