In this episode, Gannon and Bryce interview Phillip Tanner aka PT. PT is a former college football player who played at Middle Tennessee State and wound up being an undrafted free agent who signed with the Dallas Cowboys. Throughout his stint in the NFL, PT played for the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, and the Buffalo Bills. Despite playing for those four teams, PT stated that the best fan base to play in front of was the Buffalo Bills aka Bills Mafia. After his NFL career, PT was offered a job on the Dallas Cowboys staff and chomped at the bit. He classifies himself as a "Garrett Guy". Jason Garrett is formerly known as the old Dallas Cowboys coach. PT learned his culture ways from Garrett and has taken them into the realm of coaching for himself. After departing the Dallas Cowboys staff, PT joined forces with former teammate, Jon Kitna where they both now coach at a school in Texas called Burleson High School. Throughout the interview, we got to know PT as a "lunch pail guy". A lunch pail guy is someone who is going to outwork everyone and pay great attention to detail. We got to know PT as that guy. The guy who battled his way up, fought for everything he achieved, and never stopped being hungry. Ultimately, PT explains some insanely amazing examples that will resonate with former, current, and future athletes. He is the prime example of a quote on quote "man on a mission". When asked where PT sees himself in five to seven years his answer spoke volumes to his character. He wants to establish a culture at Burleson High School, just how he learned to do from Jason Garrett. This is a great interview that will allow you to learn from an athlete, a coach, and a man who has learned from some of the greats like Jason Witten and Sean Lee. Just like Jason Witten use to say, "the secret is in the dirt".
