Description

In this episode, Gannon and I take a look at how incoming coaches should interact with their new school. First we dive into the idea that every player should be treated as i'ndividuals'. Every new coach should take the time to get to know their players while developing the formation of trust. Over time, trust leads to a bond/connection between player and coach. That bond then allows every single player to buy into a teammate mentality. That teammate mentality is all about becoming 'teammates'. Once the relationship has been formed between coach-individual player, then it makes it easier to rally the team 'together'. Being apart of a team is not always easy. There can be bumps in the road, but at the end of the day if you stick together you make it to the last step. The last step in demonstrating how incoming coaches should begin at their new school is ending as a 'family'. Ending as a family means that you did all the right things while forming your team. You started off by interacting with a bunch of individuals. You earned their trust, you developed a connection, and you learned their strengths and weaknesses. After that you allowed the team to form together based on that trust. Once a team becomes family and ends that way, it will last forever. Those are the types of coaches that players never forget.
