In this episode, I share tips on handling unhappy attendees at your event.
- Before you even go on-site, have someone assigned to attendee care to handle these situations. You may need to get involved, but the goal is that it does not need to get escalated.
- Take them aside so you can have a private conversation.
- Listen and really try to empathize with where they are coming from even if you would not feel the same way. Sometimes, just feeling like they are heard is all it takes.
- Ask questions and focus on them.
- Don’t be defensive. (I know it can be hard)
- Apologize or acknowledge.
- Offer a solution and confirm the attendee is satisfied.
No one is perfect, and no event runs perfect. Be the best version of your self and find the best solution you can.
