To be honest, I'm not sure if the American church is ready for this conversation. But it needs to be said.
God calls us to be wildly devoted to Him and fully committed to loving our neighbors. But is that what the church looks like in America today? We have the resources and manpower to end homelessness, to adopt every orphan in the country, and to reach every unreached people group on earth. But we are so unloving that we'd rather have a bigger building and more expensive worship equipment and better speakers.
God calls us to die to ourselves and give Him complete control over our lives. But we're too busy trying to find where we draw the line to check the minimum boxes to get into heaven.
