This week, Janet Kafadar and I took the conversation to another level as we talk about entrepreneurial mindset, dream bigger, and using all of our experiences as stepping stones to a business we want to start. We also discussed how important it is to leave a legacy as a guide for the next generation.

We acquire a skill set in whatever job we are doing. We have a wider skill set than we realize. Many people go with what they love doing but that is not always the case. Sometimes, they are just stepping stones. The thing we want to do will just come along somehow. The big vision is sometimes just the stepping stone to what we are destined to do.
[11:25] Growing a business takes time
Success never happens overnight. Other people sensationalize the ease of building a business when the truth is we need to have tons of patience. Part of the dirty work is to know the problem and what the symptoms are. In doing so, we will know the right message we want to speak. Keeping in mind the importance to keep doing what we are doing. Otherwise, it will just be hard work without valuing having the WHY in mind.
[23:08] Developing the WHY
There are two mindsets to moving into entrepreneurship – (1) what you are running FROM and (2) what you are running TO. What is more powerful in terms of a why is having something to run towards – something bigger than ourselves. Our why is what will pull us through the tough times. If our why is just about us being comfortable, anything can derail us.
[31:08] Think BIGGER
We have to think bigger - it is okay to have big dreams. As people run towards what fulfills them, the purpose itself begins to reveal. We are to be the stepping stones for the generation to come. Show and lead the way how things are done so they do not need to start from scratch. That is what it means to dream bigger – to think about ourselves but not stop there. Instead, think of the bigger picture after.
[41:28] The power of duplication
We do not have the wherewithal to serve all those who need us. Duplicating ourselves is one of the important things an entrepreneur should do to create more resources for our community when needed. We duplicate ourselves to create more “resources” to serve “us”.
