Description

I have been in "the working world" for quite some time. Along the way, I've come to understand the way "professionalism" is perceived and used for better or for worse. In this episode, I got together with my friend Ellie to talk about this, the unwritten and unspoken rules we come across in the workplace and why I personally am no longer invested in this way of life.

At its core, professionalism is based in whiteness--white ideals about what is considered "proper", "respectable", "acceptable" and so on. The way we are expected to dress, wear our hair, color our nails, speak, interact with others--all of this is influenced by rules set forth by white, cis people, mostly men who created these standards. Join us for our conversation and hit me up on social media or email if it resonates with you.

Alexandria's suggestion - Advice - Start or get back into a hobby of yours. This will help you break up the mundane of your everyday and have something to look forward to.
