I felt stuck in America, like I wasn't thriving, that I was just surviving, and whether it was fate or the universe of capital G, God, I packed my bags and moved abroad. I lived in China for 3 years, yes, during Covid, and experienced the 3 month long Shanghai lockdown. And have recently, as of July 7th, moved to Colombia. I have found living abroad to be such a rewarding experience, it has made me a better me, and thus I created and host an expat podcast, Are we home yet?, where I interview expats from around the world about moving, living , and making a home abroad, whether are abroad for a long time or for a short time, whether they are students, digital nomads, business owners, teachers, retirees. And we have real heartfelt conversations about the things that go into living in a new place, a different country, from finding a job, dating, finding their right home, raising children abroad, creating a business abroad, feeling lonely and depressed abroad, and everything else. My goal is that people listening will find information that will help them make the move and make a home abroad. Your time abroad doesn't have to be forever, but living in another country will forever change you.
