Lillian Oetting (50), Frances Murphy (47), Mildred Linquist (50) were all friends and neighbors in their community of Riverside. Their husbands were all prominent business men in Chicago. They decided to take off on a winter girl's trip. They were going to take a 4 day trip to Starved Rock State Park and Lodge for some hiking and just getting away. They arrived on March 14, 1960. The group checks into their rooms and decide to have lunch in the lodge's dining hall. After their meal at about 1 pm the ladies took off for a hike. They would never make it back.
