Rowan Ainslie has been on skis since he was three years old. This season at 20 years he heads off as a professional alpine ski racer competing in slalom and giant slalom. He participated in 70 races last year, achieving the second highest number of race starts in the world for a skier in his ranking. His inspiration growing up was Bodie Miller, skier from New Hampshire. He loves the fast paced events going down the mountain and being able to take himself beyond just casual enjoyment. We talked about his interesting upbringing being able to ski everyday during early education. In addition we talked about the ins and outs of alpine ski racing and the team dynamics of a sport with only 4 athletes. We also discussed the most common types of injuries skiers can sustain as well as a smart way for a skier to train in the off-season.
