Stand up comic Habib siam is a Lebanese native who moved to Canada, obtained a Ph.D. at McGill University and eventually settled in his current home town of Toronto where he eventually traded his diploma for a stage and microphone.
I became aware of Habib from an instagram post advertising a show in Montreal. The description here is copy pasted from the actual post itself.
"A 75-min special about home, identity, and spending a little too much time in the woods. Habib revisits the recent events in Lebanon, the accompanying sense of loss, and the difficulties trying to exist in two worlds, "here" and "there", whose realities stand in such contrast. This is a show where grief meets laughter. A portion of the proceeds will go to support live comedy in Lebanon."
You can imagine I felt compelled to reach out for an opportunity to sit down with someone whose storytelling felt poignant to me.
This conversation shows a sensitive, thoughtful and funny human being and looking inward and trying to navigate life gracefully. This alone is something I know everyone listening will connect with on one level or another.
