Ali Shapiro, an old friend, Juliet’s former cohost of the very popular Insatiable podcast, founder of the incredible Truce With Food, and all-around rebel with a serious cause, graces us with her wise perspective on the body, the spirit and the soul and how it relates to food.

We talk about the relationship between your body, food, and how it relates to the core of who you really are. This episode goes deep into how human beings experience their self-esteem, their sense of self-worth, and how disordered eating is a side effect, not the core issue!

She’s academically, practically, and empathetically aware of how the medical system, diet culture and body positivity movements all have their own flavor of crazy. She created her Truce with Food method while in graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania where she earned her Masters in Organizational Dynamics, which is like getting an MBA in the change process, where she drew from her decade-plus of working with real-life clients and her own personal healing journey from having cancer as a teenager and working through her bingeing and unhealthy weight obsession.
