The island nation of Barbados went to the polls on 19th January to elect a new Parliament, the first such elections after it became a republic last year. Prime Minister Mia Mottley's Barbados Labour Party (BLP) won a clean sweep of parliamentary seats for the second time in a row, as the opposition Democratic Labour Party (DLP) failed to make a comeback after being ousted from government in 2018. We're joined by Professor Cynthia Barrow-Giles of of the University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, to explore the political dynamics of Barbados and the key issues and events of this election.
