Fired, furloughed, or reduced in force - all of this means you're out of a job, and the uncertainty of what comes next hits home. I've gone through all three of these in my life, and each time was an opportunity to try something new. Don't get me wrong, it's scary to think about how you'll provide for your family, pay the bills, and even if you'll be able to find another job, but these things happen for a reason, and as unfortunate as the situation is, it gives you the opportunity to redefine who you are.
Every morning when I open my laptop and scroll through LinkedIn, I see countless posts about another colleague or connection who has been laid off. Notwithstanding, it is also refreshing to see that with just one post, hundreds of other people are willing to help and support.
I've been there - a lot of sleepless nights, anger, frustration, nervousness, and perhaps a little bit of excitement about what might happen next. When you lose your job for the first time, you have a lot of questions running through your head. "Why me?" "Could I have done something different?" "What am I going to do?"
I've learned a few lessons from each time I've been fired, furloughed, or had my position eliminated, so I thought some of my life lessons might help someone else who is going through the same thing and wanted to share them with you.

I will share a personal story about a time my position was eliminated and I will share a few of my lessons.
