State of the Arts Episode 144 now available on Spotify! I feel tremendously blessed this week to have interviewed contemporary art extraordinaire Carmen Einfinger! In this in-person, in-depth interview, which I conducted in the charming Elizabeth Street Garden, I take a deep dive into the colorful world of this enchanting creative. Carmen's mesmerizingly playful work is in galleries and museums all over the world, as well as in the possession of many private collectors. Thanks to an eclectic and diverse background, she brings a boldly unique flavor to all her creations. Although she is of Dutch and Croatian decent, she was born in the United Kingdom. She grew up in Brazil, lived in Canada and eventually moved to New York. Her art is a reflection of her culturally rich heritage. She joyfully embraces her inner child in all of her works as well. Highly educated, she partook in studies in several prestigious universities including Brown University and SUNY Buffalo. In 2002 she received a NYFA Fiscal Sponsorship for the national group exhibition "True Colors." In 2009 she won first prize in the International Competition of the Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdansk, Poland. The New Museum of Contemporary Art, NY featured her as an artist in the Bowery Artists Tribute. Major art critics including Sara Ugoline and Valerio Deho have given much acclaim to her work in renowned publications. The Bilingual Art Magazine Cool featured her with a profile that focuses on her winning the International competition. Positivity, inspiration, intelligence, creativity and serenity. My welcoming guest this week embodies all of these gifts.
