State of the Arts Episode 186 now available on Spotify! This week I had the privilege of interviewing Eddie Mellow, the vice president of Grillo’s Pickles. In 2008, his business partner Travis Grillo, decided to sell pickles made with his grandfather’s hundred-year old Grillo family recipe. Using ingredients from his backyard, Travis Grillo began preparing pickles for sale at local markets and events in the Massachusetts/Connecticut area. With dedication Travis and Eddie began securing grocery store accounts in many locations. Sixteen years later, these flavorful pickles can be found in all fifty states. The products of this Cindarella company can now be purchased in 10, 000 stores nationwide. Their merch is even sold by the Urban Outfitters franchise. They collaborate with many different kinds of artists on projects. Grillo’s Pickles can be found in pop-ups as well. This interview was conducted at the Rivington Street popup in Manhattan. I am elated to have this inspirational story shared on my podcast!
