It took Julia five years to launch a podcast and one week to launch podcast baby. Which just shows a launch can be as fast or as slow as you want it to be.

A lot of launching is just making it happen or taking imperfect action and figuring it out.

When I was at the International Center of Photography I tried to sign up an intro to video class but it was cancelled so they put me in a class called The Essentials and Poetics of Video Production. The teacher actually didn’t teach any of the technical stuff about video. He told us we could google it.  Instead he inspired us by showing us films of a leaf blowing in the wind. A video of a black screen with only the sound of water. And he assigned us a three minute film for a final project to be done in Premiere which is a incredibly complicated editing program. it was actually one of the best classes I have ever taken.

By setting the expectation that we would figure it out and hand in a project and inspiring us to be creative we all managed to do just that. And somehow our figuring out this complicated software on our own freed us up to learn the poetics of film in the class.

Launching is often similar. Even if you know nothing and are not prepared. And you have to be inspired and believe in yourself.

Often, the best way to learn is just to dive in and figure it out.

They say the best time to plant a tree is ten years ago and the second best time is today. At Clickbranding we try to inspire people not to wait another second to launch their dream business or podcast.

In late November, when Julia wanted to launch podcast baby on December 1st  my first instinct was to say no because that is often my first reaction to launching another project in the midst of everything we are doing, a pandemic and the holidays. But I also knew if I said no that she would launch it without me. So I have learned to say yes so I don’t miss out. And the truth is that everything is easier when you are doing it as a team.

Steve Jobs said “Great things in business are never done by one person, they’re done by a team of people.” And this is even more trued in 2021. We have had great success working together as a team.

I have come to believe the collaborative process of creating is fundamental for me as a person. I love the back and forth and the ideas ricocheting off each other. Jump in. Say yes. Start that business. That podcast. That show.
