These two lovebirds met when my mother was a 16 year-old high school junior and my father was 22 year-old Air Force Airman stationed at England Air Force Base, a former United States Air Force base in Louisiana, located 5 miles northwest of Alexandria and about 170 miles northwest of New Orleans. Originally known as Alexandria Army Air Base. Their story was never complete as my father was made to go away or be brought up on charges of statutory rape by my maternal grandmother. I didn't meet my biological father until I was 23 years-old and a single parent. My parents are now 62 and 69 and I felt that we all needed to have a conversation about what took place in order to have closure.
