Welcome back? Welcome to? Well, with this new year and some serious reflections, welcome to the NEW but same ol' podcast, the Half of This (aka HoT). Yes, Joey changed up the name for this show with good intentions and reasons that actually tie into imposter syndrome.
Imposter syndrome is the feeling of being a phony and out of fear for being called out by others, we tend to overwork ourselves in becoming the person we think we should be or don't believe that we deserve in having the achievements and success we attain. Joey has experience greatly experienced this throughout his life in various fields ranging from athletics, undergraduate research, dating/social situations, and his struggles with his identity as a White-Korean male. With all of the objective information put out online that we could read/watch, sometimes we just need to listen to someone else talking about their experiences + thoughts on imposter syndrome in order to gain a deeper insight in our own struggles, but to also feel less alone.
In today's episode, Joey will taking a deep dive into what is imposter syndrome, its five types, who it affects & how, his experiences struggling & coping with it, and how he has dealt with this for the better! If you are someone who thinks or knows they have imposter syndrome, I hope this episode is enjoyable yet insightful!
If you'd like to read more about imposter syndrome and gain a more in-depth understanding of it, I will provide links to the articles that I used for this episode below!
