When many of us look back at our upbringings, not many black families had conversations that included African American history. I can honestly say that I was not encouraged to pick up any books, listen to any TV programs or anything that would give this information. When I look around today in many African American communities, there are very few institutions that serve as repositories for African American history. So where does that leave us?
