This is the second episode of I Am Black History brought to you by In The Black:Canada, DeeP Visions Media, and a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. In this episode, meet Dionne Joseph who was born in Windsor, ON. Dionne can trace her heritage from an enslaved Black man from a Virginia plantation who married a White Scottish indentured servant  to her Great Grandfather owning the first hotel owned by Blacks in Windsor. She also talks about growing up in a family that celebrates blackness, how her experiences of being Black/Mixed Race changed as she moved to different parts of Canada, and her poem titled Whole she wrote in response to the racial tensions in the summer of 2020.
