This is the seventh episode of the I Am Black History podcast brought to you by InTheBlack:Canada (ITBC), DeeP Visions Media, and a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. In this episode, meet Kemba Mitchelle who was born in Montreal, Quebec. Kemba can trace family back to Alabama, Montserrat, the Bahamas, and Saint Vincent but shares her regret that she didn't get to know more about her family's history when her mother and grandparents were still alive. Kemba talks about the racism she faced in elementary and high school and how she wants White people to step up and do the work of eliminating racism. Kemba puts a lot of her attention into supporting Black youth and shares the powerful work that is being done by the West Island Black Community Association (WIBCA).
