Description

Bre recorded this episode from Phoenix, AZ while she was there for her Integral Breath Work training for her 800 Hour Yoga Therapist training.  Bre goes into depth about Yoga Therapy and the people she will be helping with it.

As we have discussed before the breath, in sanskrit - Pranayama which roughly translates to life force or life energy.  Bre talks about how this breath work has helped her release trauma.  While talking about some of the trauma released and pain she was able to rid, she refers to the erector spinae (muscles that run down the outsides of the spine) as “backstraps”.  She is a true hunter!

Bre shares with us that she has experienced sexual assault.  This is not easy to talk about and we thank Bre for being vulnerable and sharing.  Bre is courageous for sharing her story for everyone to hear.

After Bre shares her trauma, Alan and Bre talk about the Yoga Alliance and the different yoga certifications you can receive through them.

JOURNAL PROMPT: write about your thoughts on the episode and the experiences Bre shared.  Write about your experiences and traumas.  And I thank Bre for again being vulnerable, it is her vulnerability that could potentially help someone else heal from their trauma.  Bre highlights the importance of not having to “carry” that trauma anymore.  She also discusses that it could not be fully healed and there is a chance it is just another layer peeled back.

Bre ends with some new breath work that she learned during her instruction.
