Description

Alan and Bre start off talking about eggs… chicken eggs. And just in general the taste of food harvested from your backyard or the wild. Alan gets propositioned… to help butcher a backyard cow. They dabble slightly in politics or how certain ideas have been labeled or classified conservative or liberal. The biggest take away is that we all need to take care of each other and the community- bottom up approach. They catch up briefly on Thanksgiving. Alan had a smaller than usual Thanksgiving. Bre has been helping with puppy training and it’s cool to see the quick learning at that age. Any stress? Bre is focusing on how to maintain grounding, she is feeling more grounded now than earlier in the fall. Bre guides us through breathwork.

Holidays are here. Holidays can be stressful. Bre asks Alan why he hasn’t felt much stress for the holidays so far. He shares… you’ll have to listen. Bre shares a couple tools she uses to keep her sanity and to reset when the external is affecting her mood. [minute 40] They dive into discipline and life is hard- “choose your hard.” Most often easy at the beginning means harder later and more sustaining; whereas what feels difficult at the beginning becomes easier or is more serving later and in the long run. Alan references 75 hard [look forward to hearing more about it in the next episode] and how your surroundings, family, friends can make discipline more challenging. The conversation moves into path of least resistance vs paving your own trail and how that also relates to creating new neural pathways which is initially “off trail” and much tougher, but eventually there’s a new trail. Overall discipline builds momentum and both the mental and physical discipline feed off each other. Alan shares about his 3 day rule with traveling and when he breaks it, he is consciously signing up for it and also setting himself up for success by preparing ahead of time. Since the holidays can be crazy busy, Bre recommends to pick one thing in December to stay disciplined about and it can be small- slightly challenging but not out of reach. Alan compares small changes make the biggest impact to the titanic being off by one degree.
