Description

Alan and Bre briefly chat about them doing the podcast for a year.  Feel free to reach out to tell us what you favorite episode was and if there are any additional topics you would like us to talk about.

Bre kicks off the episode with a great, mindfulness meditation.

Alan opens with some insight about enlightenment from a book he was listening to called No Mud No Lotus by Thich Nhat Hanh and Bre shares that enlightenment is not above or beyond humanity.

Conscious consumption is something we are always mindful of and something we talk about a lot.  Bre talks more about this and the difference of being alone in the silence of the wilderness and in the “big” city.

Bre and Alan switch topics to chat a bit about how prepared we actually are if there were a cyber pandemic and they briefly discuss the deep freeze in Texas.  We have outsourced a lot of our ability to think and brainpower.  We used to use encyclopedias and atlas to provide us reference material.

As a hunter, and anyone who spend a good amount of time outdoors, you start to realize the things that you actually need, not want.  And that is when life starts to get simple, not easy.  It is important to recognize the difference between needs and wants - know the difference and don't let the wants control your life.

Bre and Alan share some winter camping stories in three season tents and how these kind of hardships make you resilient and realize the hardest part is taking the first step.

Alan shares his first hunting story with his buddy Jeff and how you don't really know a person until they are shitting next to you in the woods.  All of this shows you the importance of others and how we can not do this alone.

Journal Prompt: Write about the things you heard - Where does your meat come from? How does education impact your life? Why is your education better? How do people help you and how do you help them?
