Today’s guest is Matt Meanwell, and he has a very interesting story.
We all want to be better at something. After all, self improvement is a fantastic feeling and fills you with much positive emotion. But achieving mastery at something we know takes lots of time, years and years of practice, and adjusting your craft.
It appears as the years go by, cyclists at the top of their game are generally starting younger and younger, getting younger and lot of my guest have been no different – most have been on a bike longer than they have been able to walk.
This is not the case for Matt. Talk about late bloomers, Matt
couldn’t even call himself a “cyclist” until he was nearly 30 years old, then with only a couple of years under his belt, he even left the sport for a while, to later return in 2021 at the age of 36.
Then, once he decided he wanted to race track, it took him 6.5 months of track riding to do the double and win both the National and the World Masters Champs in both the Kilo TT and the sprint.
Matt is an absolute beast on a bike, and has the most impressive 0-30s absolute power I have ever seen, ever, so much so that to be honest I didn’t think those kind of numbers were possible.
He is a keen lifter, and we will talk about the training he does both on and off the bike as well as many other topic areas.
It’s never too late.
