Today, in Nehemiah 1 & 2, we see how Nehemiah was moved to pray and took action. We learnt that prayer is essential, both individually and collectively. Nehemiah demonstrated a deep dependence on God; weeping, mourning, fasting, and praying. He confessed his sins and pleaded with God to act, recognizing that only God has the power to rectify the situation. His prayer is a prayer of repentance leading to hope. As Christians, we can approach God with confidence, knowing that Christ intercedes for us. Nehemiah responds to the crisis with composure and confidence because God is with him. The same is true for us. We were reminded that prayer precedes planning, as we wait for God's guidance for His plan to establish His kingdom on earth. It's not about us, but about God's work done in His way with His supply.Nehemiah took action based on his prayer and God's guidance. He presented his plans to the king, received support and led to the rebuilding of Jerusalem's walls.Nehemiah 1 and 2 hold a beautiful gospel message. It reminds us to recognize our sin and turn to God in repentance. We find hope in our dependence on Him and His power to bring restoration. Through prayer, God answers our cry and offers redemption. We are called to take action, participating in His mission to bring His kingdom to the world. It is a reminder of God's grace, our need for Him, and the beauty of His transformative work in our lives.
