Indonesian migrant workers’ body experiences in labour, daily routines, and cultural performances represent nation-building and memories of resistance to colonialism. As a proof of workers’ patriotism, Red and White flags flaunt in Indonesian grocery stores, restaurants, at rallies, and on the hilltops in foreign land. However, their absence on Independence Square implies unfulfilled struggle. (Sima Wu Ting-kuan)
