Julie Veloo is an incredibly inspiring Canadian who is currently living in Mongolia. As the Vice President of the Veloo Foundation, Julie has been working with disadvantaged children for over 20 years. In Mongolia, Julie is the driving force behind The Children of the Peak Sanctuary project, a kindergarten for the children of the families who make their living scavenging at local dumps.
The Veloo Foundation's mission is to aid the children and families of the Ulaanchuluut garbage dump in the coldest and most air polluted capital city in the world,: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. By taking long-term, Julie and her organization's goal is to alleviate poverty and provide real opportunities for the children and families who currently subsist by scavenging in all weather at the garbage dump.
