Mr Ramesh Dorairajan, with over 34 years of leadership experience, has made significant contributions to the automotive sector. His journey includes key roles at TATA Motors (PV & EV), where he served as Vice President, overseeing Electric Vehicles (Sales & Service), Network Management, and Trade Finance. Ramesh’s strategic initiatives were pivotal in establishing TATA Motors as an electric vehicle market leader and expanding its passenger vehicle dealer network. Beyond TATA, his diverse background includes positions at JCB, Reliance Industries, and Ashok Leyland Finance. His expertise spans sales, consumer financing, dealer funding, product development, and network expansion. Ramesh’s insights into the electric vehicle landscape have driven industry transformation. He excels in building relationships with key banks and NBFCs. Academically, he holds degrees in Economics and Law, completed an Executive Program in Business Management from IIM Calcutta, and attended the Tata Group Leadership Program at the Michigan Ross School of Business. We discussed the following questions;1. Why EV adaptation in vehicles is the low-hanging fruit for India, amongst others like solar energy for homes etc?2. How the EV technology been growing in India in the last 5 years? Industry number of EVs and also comparative contribution growth over the total numbers.3. India depends on China for 70% of the lithium-ion batteries, and we have no proven sources for Lithium or cobalt, so we can mitigate the risk of depending on China?6.
